Job Description


The Director of Sunway TES (Johor Bahru) will advise and support the Sunway College (KL) Management Committee in setting priorities for the development and management of the new institution set up at Johor Bahru. This includes taking responsibility for the overall operations, governance, strategic planning, finance and human resources, including setting strategic direction for the business growth/ expansion of the institution with the highest level of quality, integrity and ethics at all times.

The incumbent is accountable to the Executive Director of Sunway College (KL) for the following responsibilities:

  • Staff Management/ Human Resources
  • Provide academic leadership for academic staff within the Institution and to take responsibility for setting and advancing the strategic direction of the institution with the highest level of quality, integrity and ethics.
  • Manage the administrative team and provide leadership and support to the institution while developing a strong culture of teamwork that facilitates high productivity and a high level of work satisfaction.
  • Facilitate the development of research, consultancy and scholarly activities which will enhance the academic reputation of the institution and contribute to the personal development of academic staff.
  • Manage staffing matters including hiring, development, performance management and retention of staff to meet the needs of human resources.
  • Strategic Planning & Marketing
  • Strategise, formulate, implement and review policies and procedures to enhance the operations of the institution.
  • Strategise with Sunway Education Group (SEG) Marketing and Branding departments on the promotion and branding of the institution, including management and implementation of marketing activities and promotional materials to attain the strategic goals of the institution.
  • Be responsible for the recruitment and retention of students; to monitor and provide statistics and analysis for development of the institution.
  • Foster relationships and strategise synergies with appropriate external agencies/ companies/ firms in order to promote the institution and expand opportunities for employment/ internships for students.
  • Organisational and Academic Excellence
  • Provide strategic vision and leadership for the academic programmes, to ensure compliance of SCKL Academic Governance, Quality Management System, MOE, MQA, MyQuest, as well as any partner institution\'s requirements.
  • Be an active member of the College Academic Board and represent the Institution as and when necessary.
  • Engender a culture of excellence, co-operation and respect both within and beyond the Institution.
  • Create a productive and well-regarded teaching and learning process and learning environment, ensure high quality teaching and learning process and provide pastoral care for students to enhance student experience.
  • Ensure the planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of all programme activities are being closely monitored.
  • Operational Management
  • Develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, consultation, decision-making and communication with all stakeholders, including Sunway College (KL) Support Departments\' Heads and Head of Programmes (HOPs), Sunway TES (JB) Programme Coordinators, academic staff and administrative staff, students, parent groups and the larger community.
  • Ensure efficient and effective resources planning in the following areas:
  • Timetabling
  • Students and examination administration
  • Events management
  • Space and facilities utilisation and allocation
  • Technical infrastructure
  • Health, safety and environment of the Institution.
  • Financial Management
  • Responsible for the Institution\'s budgets and compliance with Sunway Education Group (SEG) financial regulations. Manage income and expenditure in order to promote financial sustainability.
  • Commitment to recruitment and retention of students at all levels. Monitor student numbers, attrition rates, human resources and infrastructure requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in any field with 5 years working experience at Managerial level in the area of tertiary education.
  • A dynamic, assertive, self-driven and result-oriented person, with initiative and a passion for service excellence.
  • Possess good strategic and analytical skills with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, in both written and verbal.
  • Excellent leadership, management and organisation skills including the ability to supervise and manage people, budgets, projects and activities.
  • Knowledge of policies, practices and regulations that relate to the Higher Education sector.
