A lorry driver transports goods using large trucks, focusing on safe, timely delivery by operating the vehicle, planning routes, conducting safety checks, securing loads, and completing paperwork like delivery logs and trip reports, while adhering strictly to traffic laws and company policies. Key duties involve vehicle inspection, maintenance, loading/unloading assistance, efficient route planning, and communication with dispatchers and clients for accurate, secure deliveries.
Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation:

Safely driving lorries (HGV/Trucks) over various distances, following all road rules and regulations.

Route & Schedule Management:

Planning efficient routes, adjusting for traffic, and meeting strict delivery schedules.

Safety & Maintenance:

Performing daily vehicle inspections (mechanical/safety), reporting issues, and ensuring the vehicle stays in excellent condition.

Cargo Handling:

Supervising or assisting with loading/unloading, ensuring goods are secure, correctly stacked, and verified for accuracy.

Documentation:

Completing delivery notes, receipts, trip logs, and mileage/fuel records accurately.

Communication:

Liaising with dispatchers, managers, and customers about delivery status, delays, or issues.
Essential Requirements

Valid lorry/HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) driving license (e.g., GDL, +E). Clean driving record and good medical health. Familiarity with GPS and navigation tools. Knowledge of road safety, traffic laws, and vehicle maintenance. Physical ability for loading/unloading and long hours on the road.
