Role: Program Duta Guru, Duta Guru Community ManagerStart Date: ImmediatelyEmployment Type: Full time, 1-Year Contract (renewable)Location: Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaOBJECTIVE OF THE ROLEThe Duta Guru Community Manager will lead the strategy for building a community of leaders in the STEM education landscape that is aligned to Teach For Malaysia\'s overall strategy of building a community of change-oriented leaders.MISSION FOR THE ROLEProgram Duta Guru enables TFM to scale our student impact in every district across Malaysia by building on existing leadership within the system. The Duta Guru Community Manager will be creating a network for PDG teachers, alumni and other regional stakeholders to collaborate on initiatives to increase student impact.As part of the PDG leadership team, this individual will also work closely with other managers to ensure that Program Duta Guru is able to cultivate STEM leaders within the Malaysian education system while driving towards transformational student impact.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Duta Guru Community Building

  • Develop and launch a strategy for engaging alumni (Duta Guru) and building a community of leaders in the STEM education landscape that is aligned to TFM\'s overall strategy for building a community of change-oriented leaders
  • Ensure that Duta Guru feel a deep sense of connection to the PDG and wider TFM community movement
  • Drive understanding of the local and regional contexts that we operate in, and make recommendations on how that influences our programme design and implementation
  • Accelerate the impact of Duta Guru by developing technical resources, training opportunities, mentorship schemes, networking opportunities, etc. in collaboration with relevant stakeholders (i.e. Yayasan Petronas, Ministry of Education, industry experts)
Team Leadership and Development
  • As part of the PDG leadership team, collaborate with other managers in PDG to ensure internal alignment on key decisions and programmatic approach with a focus on transformational student impact monitor, evaluate and report programmatic impact against delivery of Program Duta Guru goals
  • Foster a sustainable and collaborative team culture to ensure that PDG and TFM goals are met
  • Ensure robust project management of PDG within scope, timeframe and budget in order to achieve Participant and student impact
  • Manage impact review cycles internally and externally to continuously improve programme implementation.
  • Manage and coach Programme Associates/ Senior Associates to ensure effective implementation of activities/ events at Regional/ State/ National level which are aligned to the Duta Guru Community Strategy
  • Any other responsibilities assigned as required to support the needs of the organisation where appropriate
KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Design, implement and ongoing review of Duta Guru Community engagement and capacity-building strategy
  • Targets met for Regional Events for involvement of Duta Guru Community
  • Targets met for Duta Guru community according to milestones
  • Data-driven in achieving set targets
REQUIRED COMPETENCIESRole-Specific Competencies
  • Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with a diverse group of people, and establish a network for members to connect with one another
  • Strategic planning and execution by aligning the team on a vision of success, planning strategically and monitoring progress systematically
  • Ability to manage operational budget effectively
  • Ability to drive new initiatives, and act independently while collaborating strategically with various stakeholders
  • Ability to set targets using data-driven decision making approach
Years of experience & qualification
  • 4 years of working experience, including relevant experience in education and/or community engagement
  • Bachelor Degree in any field
  • Coaching certification would be an added advantage
Leadership Experience & Team Adaptability
  • Ability to be adaptable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, achievement-oriented environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees and stakeholders
  • Able to think strategically, critically, innovatively, and in a resourceful manner
  • Able to build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Language & Technical Proficiency
  • Strong written and verbal skills and excellent proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and preferably equal competency in English
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Willing and able to readily adopt and utilise any TFM database or technological platform / application (i.e. Google Suites, Confluence, Salesforce, Zoom etc.)
