The University Recruiting team at Western Digital is tasked with implementing strategies to identify, attract, and recruit high-quality and diverse university students, establishing a robust and enduring talent pipeline throughout the Asia Pacific region. As a crucial leadership figure, you will oversee all university recruiting initiatives and programs across the region, collaborating closely with diverse stakeholders within Western Digital to attract top-tier global talent from academic institutions.

Responsibilities of a University Recruiting Head at Western Digital:

  • Establish a clear vision for Western Digital\'s university recruiting strategy, programs, and processes to contribute to business success.
  • Provide a purposeful and inspirational vision to guide your team, empowering them to excel by removing obstacles and allocating resources effectively.
  • Contribute insights and direction to the annual budgeting and strategic planning processes, encompassing workforce planning, location analysis, and cost evaluation.
  • Collaborate with workforce planning leaders and HR to comprehend hiring demand, translating it into effective hiring plans.
  • Plan and execute seamless internship, graduate recruiting, and rotational programs, including creating program plans, timelines, stakeholder maps, communication strategies, and partner enablement.
  • Define and manage the complete recruiting strategy and process, covering sourcing, screening, interview process management, candidate relationship maintenance, offer creation and extension, and candidate closure.
  • Promote and enhance Western Digital\'s brand on campuses as an employer of choice, actively participating in on-campus events as required.
  • Cultivate partnerships and collaboration with key external entities, such as faculty, staff, and student organizations.
  • Manage the candidate new hire experience, encompassing onboarding, hiring manager satisfaction, assessments, and other University Recruiting/recruiting metrics.
  • Ensure the University team adheres to all mandatory hiring requirements, reporting obligations, and record management, adapting standard processes to address market variances based on legal, regulatory, and market maturity considerations.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring extensive recruiting experience to shape a distinct recruiting vision. Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of corporate recruiting and university recruiting experience, with a preference for technology recruiting experience.
  • Passion for early career talent, demonstrating a relentless drive to find and hire top university talent.
  • Deep knowledge and insights into university recruiting and early career talent.
  • Initiative and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Relationship Building/Influencing: Demonstrate effective influencing skills with senior management/partners, combining high-level human capital knowledge with deep organizational understanding. Build strong relationships with solid trust and mutual respect as the foundation.
  • Leverage strong judgment skills to make decisions, knowing when and how to introduce change in a broadly accepted manner.
  • Values and Leadership: Demonstrate alignment with Western Digital\'s Values (Integrity, Clients, People, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence) and the capability to lead and motivate a team. Display commitment to growing and developing internal talent.
