Job Description

Wood is recruiting for an EHS Manager to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner's Representative team, ensuring strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards throughout all phases of the project.

The Role


The EHS Manager will act as the Owner's Representative, responsible for implementing and monitoring EHS programs, ensuring compliance with Owner standards, local regulations, and international best practices. This role promotes a strong safety culture, conducts audits, and drives proactive risk management to protect people, assets, and the environment in a fast-track, mission-critical construction environment.

Key Responsibilities



EHS Program Implementation



Develop, implement, and enforce EHS plans and procedures in alignment with Owner standards and regulatory requirements Review contractor EHS plans and ensure compliance with approved methodologies Monitor site activities to verify adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines

Risk Management & Compliance



Identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks Ensure compliance with local laws, Owner standards, and international safety regulations Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and drive continuous improvement

Incident Management & Reporting



Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and non-compliance events; ensure corrective actions are implemented Maintain accurate records of safety performance, audits, and incident reports Prepare weekly and monthly EHS reports for Owner review

Training & Safety Culture



Coordinate safety training programs for site personnel and contractors Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, awareness campaigns, and leadership by example Support onboarding of new team members with EHS orientation

Stakeholder Coordination



Collaborate with Owner, General Contractor, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve EHS issues Participate in site meetings and provide technical input on safety-related matters

Expected:



Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field Minimum 12-15 years of EHS management experience on large-scale construction projects Holds a valid Safety & Health Officer (SHO) certification (preferred) Experience with mission-critical facilities or data centre projects is highly desirable Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk management, and compliance auditing Excellent communication and leadership skills
