To lead and manage the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) functions, ensuring the workplace complies with legal, regulatory, and company safety standards. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining effective EHS policies, risk management systems, and programs that promote a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
EHS Policy & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with
Malaysian laws and regulations (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, etc.)
.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Liaise with relevant government authorities, auditors, and certification bodies on EHS matters.
Prepare and submit statutory reports, permits, and documentation as required.
2.
Health & Safety Management
Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits to identify hazards and ensure effective control measures.
Establish and enforce safe working practices and emergency response procedures.
Lead accident and incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Promote health and safety awareness through campaigns, briefings, and training sessions.
3.
Environmental Management
Oversee waste management, chemical control, air and water emissions monitoring, and environmental protection initiatives.
Ensure proper documentation and handling of scheduled waste according to DOE requirements.
Support environmental sustainability initiatives and resource efficiency projects within the plant.
4.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
Conduct periodic fire drills, safety training, and mock emergency exercises.
Coordinate with BOMBA, hospitals, and external agencies during emergency situations.
5.
Training & Awareness
Plan and conduct regular EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
Build safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Maintain EHS-related records, certifications, and training documentation.
6.
Leadership & Reporting
Lead, coach, and develop the EHS team to ensure effective implementation of safety programs.
Prepare monthly EHS performance reports and present to management.
Drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with corporate EHS objectives.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum
8 years of experience
in EHS management, preferably in
manufacturing or industrial
settings.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian
EHS regulations
,
ISO 14001
, and
ISO 45001
management systems.
Certified
Safety & Health Officer (SHO)
registered with
DOSH (JKKP)
is mandatory.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent analytical and reporting abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with EHS management software or systems.
Able to lead cross-functional teams and influence organizational safety culture.
