Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To implement all policies, activities, procedures, instructions as relevant and required by the quality system.

2. Patient Advocate, Health Educator for patients and relatives.

3. Liaison with doctors and consultants of hospital.

4. Develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records.

5. Assume responsibilities for total plan of care for all assigned patients and work according to the medical centre policies and professional standards.

6. Carry out specialist's order in conformance with standardized techniques and procedures and to provide quality care.

7. Maintain safety of patients in your care.

8. Promote harmonious and effective work relationships within the unit and with the medical and auxiliary staff in co-coordinating patient total needs.

9. Demonstrate qualities of a role model in sharing your expertise with co-workers.

10. Primary point of contact between the patient-both at the bedside, and in-outpatient setting.

11. To carry out any duties assigned / instructed by management as and when required.

A. Provide nursing care according to current standards of nursing practice to maintain high standard of patient care and assume responsibility for team members when acting as team leader.

12. Plan, organize and evaluate the total care plan for the patients.

13. Assist doctors during rounds in examination of patients and carrying out special procedures.

14. Carry out specialist's orders in giving medications, treatments within realm of responsibility.

15. Maintain custody of controlled drugs, check and administer drug.

16. Evaluate symptoms, reactions and progress of patients undergoing chemotherapy / or any procedures.

17. Maintain accuracy in charting and recording of observation.

18. Report all abnormality of patient's condition to medical practitioner and team leader.

19. Teach patients and relatives according to their needs by formal and informal education.

20. Teach and supervise hospital aide in carrying out basic nursing care to patients.

21. Guide and direct activities of co-workers as they provide patient care.

22. Assist in the orientation of newly appointed nursing staff.

23. Check crash cart every day to ensure all drugs and equipment are in place.

24. Check stocks to ensure sufficient supplies.

25. Liaise with auxiliary services e.g. maintenance, housekeeping, dietary units for any changes.

26. Organize reception, discharge and transfer of patients in accordance to any standing order.

27. Check all equipment and make sure they are in working order.

28. Carry out emergency resuscitation procedures both cardiac and respiratory in the absence of medical staff.

29. Observe strict sterility technique in accordance with procedure manual

30. Collect and dispatch all specimens according to specific instructions.

31. Assume responsibility for IV. cannulation, venepuncture and assist in specialized procedure within the unit.

32. Accompany patient in ambulance from time to time.

33. Perform other related professional nursing duties as assigned

B. Maintain a safe environment for his/her patients

1. Report unsafe and mechanical disorder to nursing sister.

2. Avail yourself of emergency codes and fire procedures.

3. Familiarize with new nursing care techniques, procedures and equipment.

4. Be aware of legal implications.

5. Instruct her/his team members of precautions to be taken for:

(i) Severe drug reactions patients

(ii) Immune --suppressed patients.

(iii) Radiation safety and self-protection.

C. Contribute to self-growth and Development

1. Attend in-service programmes from time to time.

2. Bring forth ideas and need for own learning experiences.

Participate in training and education programme

Requirement

- Minimum Diploma in Nursing

-Experience in Endoscopy

_ Valid LJM cert, Valid APC

Working Hours

Monday - Friday (Saturday & Sunday on call, if oncall got off day on weekday)

7:30 AM - 5 PM

8:30 AM - 6 PM

9:30 AM- 7 PM

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
