Position Summary / Role Responsibility The Engineering Assistant (Electrical Design) will be part of Rockwell Automation\xe2\x80\x99s Lifecycle Services Business, focused on providing automation and process solutions for their assigned industry. Duties of the Engineering Assistant may include designing, building, and testing of Industrial Control Panels and daily activities may include generation of electrical schematics, Bills-of-Material, and other required documentation to assist in the manufacturing process. The technician must be able to integrate power distribution, automation components, transformers, and branch circuit protection with motors and sensors into a high-quality packaged solution. The Engineering Assistant will also participate in innovation, cost reduction, quality improvement, process documentation, and other initiatives under the direction and supervision of engineering team leader. This position requires creativity, experience, and the ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts. Working in concert with the Project Manager, technician will establish objectives, work plans, and execution development tasks for a particular solution and work on project assignments. This role reports to the Engineering Team Lead. Typical activities may include:

  • Generate electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, Bills-of-Material, and assembly/use instructions for a variety of equipment
  • Calculate short circuit current rating, three phase and single-phase loads, conductor sizing, derating, as well as enclosure heat dissipation requirements
  • Participate in technical execution of projects including all stages of design and technical review with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Responsible for meeting project schedule, engineering hour budgets, and customer satisfaction targets for own activities in support of the project team
  • Review project hardware for compliance with applicable codes/standards and assure personnel/machinery safety practices are fully implemented
  • Coordinate customer requirements with engineering and other appropriate departments to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved
  • Provides updates to project manager/leader pertaining to status of activities, performance to schedule and performance to budget
  • Visit internal/external panel manufacturing facilities to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off
  • Participate in standardization, cost savings, and manufacturing process improvement initiatives
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including the NEC, NFPA79, UL508A, and UL698.
  • Basic knowledge on Industries, manufacturing processes, applications
  • Basic knowledge on Project Phases including detail design generation, systems integration methods & testing
  • Understanding control systems, panel components, electrical wiring diagram, schematic diagram & AC/DC power circuits, pushbuttons, circuit breakers, power supplies, overloads, contactors, relays Allen-Bradley PLCs, Powerflex VFDs & Servo Drives etc.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, supporting customer needs with a high level of professionalism and excellence.

  • Ability to design utilizing ACAD electrical and CREO
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation with 0-2 years of experience
  • Minimum of 65% marks with year of passing on 2021 / 2022
  • Willing to Travel as required and accessible if needed during off hours, weekends, and holidays (Minimum of 10% travel required)
  • Experience in panel manufacturing, design, project exposure may be an added advantage
