Develop, execute, and maintain effective occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
Ensure all safety programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control:
Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards (e.g., chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic).
Recommend and oversee the implementation of corrective actions and control measures.
Manage the company's Hazard Communication program, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Training & Education:
Develop and deliver engaging safety training for employees and management on topics such as emergency procedures, PPE, hazardous materials handling, and incident prevention.
Conduct new employee safety orientations.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Lead thorough investigations of all workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root cause.
Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records for regulatory reporting.
Track incident metrics and propose strategies for prevention.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain all required safety documentation, permits, and records.
Stay current with new legislation and industry best practices related to workplace safety.
Act as the primary liaison during safety audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans (e.g., fire evacuation, chemical spill).
Organize and evaluate emergency drills.
Safety Culture Promotion:
Champion a positive safety culture by engaging with employees, promoting safety committees, and recognizing safe work practices.
Regularly communicate safety topics and updates to the workforce.
