Employee Relations & Industrial Relations Manager/Asst Manager Salary Range: RM 120000 - RM 216000 per annum

Job Location: Klang/Petaling Jaya

Industry: Manufacturing (Electronics)

Job summary:
A manufacturing company in Malaysia is currently looking for a Manager/Assistant Manager specializing in Industrial Relations/Employee Relations to join the exciting team. Our client's HQ is in Taiwan where they manufacture consumer & innovative home-related products. Malaysia is one of the most important markets in SEA where two factory plants are based in Malaysia.

What you'll do:

  • Identify and interpret Legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
  • Advise management on legislative changes affecting personnel programs.
  • Serve as an Employee Advocate and Advisor to Management on personnel policy and program matters, making appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Formulate and review IR policies and guidelines to promote industrial harmony.
  • Manage any grievances, disputes and disciplinary cases towards a prompt and amicable resolution.
  • Ensure disciplinary actions taken are in compliance with Employment Act 1955.
  • Advise and direct Head of Department accordingly on the appropriate disciplinary actions consistent with the Company's policy and procedures.
  • Initiate effort that promotes good faith and mutual respect in terms of relationship with the employees.
  • Company's representative in conciliation meetings and Industrial / Labour Court.
Initiate and develop new Employee Relations programs in accordance with overall company objectives and philosophy. * Expert in Employee Relations activities for the Company.

What do you need to have to succeed in this role:
  • Bachelor Degree / Master in Human Resource Management, Law, Business Studies or related discipline with minimum 8 years working experience in Manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Well versed with Malaysian Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, Trade Union Act 1959 and current labour law practices.
  • Ability to handle Industrial Relations matters relating to employee discipline, domestic inquiries and grievances.
  • Strong leadership skills, good decision making and business acumen.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin speaking is an added advantage.
  • Experience in the Manufacturing environment is an added advantage.
  • Must willing to work in Port Klang Selangor.
