Job Description


JOB PURPOSETo support Head of Department and Section Head in driving and enhancing Agrobank\'s sustainability agenda in line with its vision - \'Advancing Agriculture Beyond Banking\', more specifically in the area of climate change. Agrobank aspires to address climate change through implementation of initiatives to improve its internal operations as well as influencing its customers to adopt better and more sustainable business practices. The planning and management function for climate change in the bank aims to provide strategic direction on the Bank\'s decarbonization efforts and Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategy.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist to identify suitable and bankable climate mitigation and adaptation projects to support sectoral decarbonization and contribute to green financing.
  • Serve as liaison officer between internal stakeholders (i.e., employees) on the Bank\'s climate change efforts.
  • Organise formal and informal dialogues with stakeholders to identify important sustainability issues.
  • Support the preparation of the Bank\'s climate change disclosures for internal and external consumption including disclosures aligned to the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
  • Prepare relevant training material for capacity building engagements on sustainability for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and implement the strategic projects and tasks to achieve the key initiatives outlined in the Bank\'s GHG emissions reduction roadmap.
  • Prepare technical inputs related to climate change for dissemination of knowledge materials.
  • Conduct research and literature reviews and benchmark sectoral decarbonisation approaches and performance to support improvement in medium to long-term strategy, operations, framework and policies.
  • Collect and collate supporting activity data and emission factors across internal operations (i.e., Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Business Travel) according to the relevant accounting standard - GHG Protocol.
  • Collect and collate supporting activity data and emission factors for Scope 3 Financed emissions with the relevant accounting standard, Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) methodology.
  • Collect and collate any other key sustainability indicators with regards to the Bank\'s internal operations, customers and counterparties.
  • Conduct research to justify adoption of appropriate technologies and digital solutions and suggest unique proposals to enhance impact of sustainability and climate initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • No experience required. Minimum 2 years of working experience is an added advantage.
  • Bachelor\'s Degree preferably with major in environmental sciences or sustainable development.
  • Master\'s Degree in, sustainable development, environmental sciences or environmental engineering strongly preferred.
  • Involvement or participation in community or environmental-related projects / programs will be an added advantage.

Added advantage if the candidate has the following: -
  • Climate transition - GHG emissions baseline setting, net zero initiative development and climate transformation, carbon credits.
  • Net Zero and Decarbonisation standards and levers - Science-based Targets Initiative, GHG Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project (now known as CDP), Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).
  • Emissions accounting - including lifecycle assessment (LCA), Product Carbon footprint (PCF), Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF).
  • Ability to leverage platforms such as social media and website to advocate, communicate and update Bank\'s developmental and sustainability efforts and progress to the public.
  • Exposure in corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
