Job Description


Role Responsibilities The Country Head of FI is accountable for the overall client group revenues, profitability and risk acceptance (AML, CDD and Credit) of FI clients within their country. They are responsible, through their team, for establishing and maintaining an end to end understanding of the client group structure and client needs. Strategy Develop and manage the implementation of FI strategy across segments within the country in line with the defined global FI customer value proposition and the overall strategic direction of the Group and CCIB. To help shape the FI strategy which aims to maximise shareholder value, identify and create areas of competitive advantage to contribute to the overall strategic growth of the wider business. As part of FI portfolio, develop and implement Fintech strategy focused on companies offering New Payment Methods (NPMs) with focus on deposit acquisition and cross-border FX needs to increase non-financing revenue and support liability strategy. People & Talent Support a talent identification process and sponsor development activities that focus on identification of high performing and high potential individuals in the Group\'s business to ensure a high-quality succession pipeline. Provide effective leadership to the FI business in the country, communicate the vision and build strong commitment to the Bank and the FI priorities. Drive the change in the talent pool where possible to achieve diversity and inclusion. Responsible for managing and recruiting staff in FI ensuring adequate staffing to meet the business objectives and strong talent identification, succession planning and development activities. Build and maintain an effective management team capable of delivering the FI strategy and through assignment to direct reports. Develop and reward talented people and deliver business goals by active sponsorship and leadership of people management activities. Develop a high-performance culture by balancing staff performance on conduct and risk management and revenue growth, and reward people fairly. Lead the way on culture and values to set the appropriate tone across FI and work with MT members to ensure people are recognised and rewarded adequately. Risk Management Manage and monitor the associated risks in financial crime and money laundering, specifically CDD for FI clients. Responsible for managing the integrity of client data for FI clients. Ensure the team is cognisant and vigilant around the integrity of client data and support the efforts of COBAM and other teams in this regard. Ensure timely resolution of any audit and compliance issues related to the segment. Provide oversight across the FI segment, and through assignment to direct reports and working in conjunction with FIMT and CEO to enforce the highest standards of integrity and behaviour as well as regulatory conduct and compliance standards and practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines. Ensure there are appropriate frameworks in place so that the FI business is carried out within the Group\'s risk appetite and reputational and credit risks are appropriately managed in conjunction with direct reports and other stakeholders. Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job-holder\'s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalated, where appropriate to relevant risk committees Regulatory & Business Conduct Display exemplary conduct and live by the . Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters. Key stakeholders Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders, including: Regional FI Segments Head, Global FI Segment Heads, Country CC Head, Country CEO, Product Heads and Product Partners, Credit Teams, Network GAMs/RAMs and FI Country Heads and other local senior management staff. Qualifications Training, licenses, memberships and certifications MBA or similar postgrad skills Risk & AML certified as stipulated by Bank policy Highly motivated individuals with a strong experience, preferably over 15 years, across Credit, Banking, and Financial Markets. Superior analytical aptitude, creative problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills. Established track record of leadership and team management skills Knowledgeable in the provisions of regulations pertaining to the banking and finance industries, especially in Malaysia. Strong knowledge of balance sheet management, credit risk management, liquidity management, interest rate risk management, and derivatives.
