The Data Centre Operator - Tape Management reports to the Data Centre Lead. Part of the responsibilities are as follows:

1) Maintains a library of magnetic media for an Information System operation.

2) Responsible for the proper management and control of all physical and virtual storage media such as tapes and cartridges.

3) Responsible for proper controls and management of inventory and supply of the respective storage media.

4) Responsible for the daily operations of the management and control of storage media in the computer room as well as emergency such as disaster recovery. This includes:

Backup Media Loading and Unloading

Daily Backup Monitoring and Escalation

5) Inspects magnetic tapes to determine if tape requires replacement due to wear or damage during tape preparation.

6) Ensure security procedures and audit requirement are adhered to at all times by:

maintaining the physical security of all information systems equipment located in the Data Centre facility, permitting only authorized personnel into the facility and as necessary, escorting and supervising the activities of all 3rd party service personnel

managing the secure handling of backup tapes, diskettes, cartridges, CDs and other data recording media such that only authorized personnel are permitted to have possession of these media.

maintaining a clean disk

7) Complying the backup policy and retention period for all systems as per BNM requirement. (Coordinate media disposal as per guideline)

8) Respond promptly to user requests/queries regards backup and restoration.

Malaysian citizen

With relevant experience OR with Degree in any field
