to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems supporting production and facility operations. This role covers power distribution, utilities, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical project execution. The engineer will also lead energy efficiency initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide technical leadership to maintenance teams, contractors, and stakeholders to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and utilities
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to minimize production downtime
Coordinate closely with production and maintenance teams on equipment availability
Establish contingency plans for power interruptions and electrical failures
Electrical Infrastructure & Projects
Oversee design, operation, and maintenance of plant electrical infrastructure
Manage power distribution systems (transformers, switchgear, panels, cabling)
Plan and execute electrical upgrades to support new machinery, automation, and process improvements
Contractor & Vendor Management
Supervise contractors for electrical repair, maintenance, and upgrade works
Review quotations, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with safety and SLAs
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations (e.g. IEEE, Suruhanjaya Tenaga - ST)
Conduct inspections and audits to identify risks and implement corrective actions
Enforce electrical safety procedures including LOTO
Maintain accurate drawings, test reports, and maintenance records
Act as liaison with utility providers and regulatory authorities
Budgeting & Resource Planning
Support annual maintenance budgeting and cost control initiatives
Manage electrical tools, spare parts, and inventory to ensure operational readiness
Additional Responsibilities
Support facility improvement, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives
Maintain 5S standards in HT areas, substations, transformers, and generator rooms
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Experience
11kV Chargeman Certification or higher (mandatory)
Minimum
7 years of experience
in facilities electrical engineering or facilities management
Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with strong troubleshooting ability
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
