Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Recruits, selects, onboards, trains, and mentors employees.

Major responsibilities of a Production Supervisors is to ensure the manufacturing process remains smooth and efficient by organizing workflows and monitoring staff.

Direct, train, and assist lower-level manufacturing and production workers. Regular duties and responsibilities include:

\xc2\xb7 Supervising operations within a facility to achieve higher output

\xc2\xb7 Organizing training and educational manuals for the production team

\xc2\xb7 Assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of new hires

\xc2\xb7 Ensuring compliance with safety and professional standards within a facility

\xc2\xb7 Organizing, monitoring, and prioritizing tasks to meet production goals

\xc2\xb7 Evaluating various stations of the production operation to ensure optimum efficiency

\xc2\xb7 Maintaining communication between employees and senior executives to ensure procedures and policies are well-understood

\xc2\xb7 Ensuring the flow of raw materials and other resources

Skills and qualifications

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of manufacturing tools and equipment

\xc2\xb7 IT skills, especially using data analysis software

\xc2\xb7 Excellent organization, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

\xc2\xb7 Excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic

\xc2\xb7 Ability to create and adhere to production processes

\xc2\xb7 Ability to write reports legibly and accurately

\xc2\xb7 Relevant training and certification in industrial production, engineering, or any related field

Production Supervisor experience requirements

When scouting for the right candidate for a Production Supervisor, look for those with direct experience in a manufacturing plant and at least 2 years experience in a supervisory role. Ideally, these experiences should be in relevant industries. Anyone with experience as a Production Assistant and experience in an oversight role in a non-manufacturing setting can still make a good Production Supervisor.

Qualification requirements

Preferably a degree holder in technology, engineering, business administration, or related fields.

4-5 years experience working as a supervisor in a factory production line.

Additional certifications in operation management and safety standards will be an advantage.
