Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed failure analysis of returned, field-failed, or production-rejected components and systems (mechanical, electrical, electronic).

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using techniques such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).

Use diagnostic tools such as SEM/EDX, X-ray, FTIR, oscilloscopes, microscopes, and other lab equipment to examine failed parts. Document failure analysis findings with detailed reports including test data, images, conclusions, and recommendations. Interface with design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to communicate findings and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Develop and improve FA processes, test methods, and procedures in alignment with automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001). Support the 8D or similar problem-solving processes for customer complaints and internal quality issues. Maintain traceability and documentation per industry standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in product validation, reliability testing, and qualification programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in failure analysis, reliability engineering, or quality engineering in the automotive or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components (e.g., ECUs, sensors, power electronics, mechanical parts). Proficient in using lab tools and techniques for materials and electrical analysis.

Familiarity with automotive quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC).

Knowledge of industry standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 26262, AEC-Q100/200, etc. Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
