GENERAL SUMMARY

The Finance Analyst is a member of APAC finance team to support Australia, SEA and EA finance processes. This position is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of Australia and Malaysia accounting activities.

Principle duties and responsibilities

  • Managing APAC accounting activities such as inventory, and project cost accounting to ensure a wide range of accounting policies and practices are being adhered to.
  • Ensure timely and accurate closing of finance and accounting activities and provide in-depth analysis of the financial performance.
  • Process monthly journal posting and ensure monthly accruals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for relevant accounts and certify completeness.
  • US and Local-GAAP compliance and Financial controls including SOX and internal/external audit reviews.
  • Assist in preparing the quarterly forecasting and annual budget exercise by reviewing assumptions and highlighting risks/issues.
  • Provide variance explanations of actual vs budget/forecast, including reporting of key findings to the business.
  • Support Contract Management Team in evaluating commercial terms for APAC new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and review project costing to ensure all costs are properly costed with a reasonable margin.
  • Monitor and review WIP/EAC/BFC for APAC projects and provide operations team heads-up when there is major costs variance (shortfall or surplus).
  • Identify issues and drive efficiencies and improvements by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ad-hoc projects, reporting, and analysis necessary for financial management as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • University Degree in Accounting / Commerce / Business Administration
  • 5-7 years of working experience in the related field is required
  • Good understanding of overall finance function.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Australia & Malaysia GAAP accounting techniques
  • Previous experience in Baan LN, HFM/HP reporting tool, and analytical tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot table), PowerPoint, Outlook, etc
