Requirements

  • Education: At least a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, financial management, or a similar role. Experience in AP, AR, GL, and reconciliation is preferred.
  • Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of SST and/or GST regulations and Malaysian tax law.
  • Accounting Software Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting systems and software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms).
  • Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting, reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support senior management when required.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities effectively.
Responsibilities
a) Accounting & Financial Management
  • Handle Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing and month-end closing.
  • Process invoices, prepare payments, and manage the data entry for accounting systems, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Oversee petty cash payments, ensuring proper documentation and timely issuance of payments.
  • Process goods receipt data entries and corresponding invoices to ensure inventory and financial records are accurate.
  • Assist in the preparation of audits and tax documentation, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
b) Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Possess knowledge of and ensure adherence to Malaysian tax laws, including Sales and Service Tax (SST) and/or Goods and Services Tax (GST).
  • Ensure accurate tax filings and that all transactions align with the latest tax regulations.
c) Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow Management
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor daily bank balances to ensure accurate cash flow management.
  • Reconcile daily, monthly, and yearly financial transactions, ensuring that discrepancies are resolved and documented.
d) Staff Claims & Payments
  • Process staff claims payments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and timely reimbursement.
e) Document & Records Management
  • Organize and maintain financial records and documentation, ensuring that all files are accurate, secure, and readily available for audits or reviews.
  • Assist in various administrative tasks related to the finance department and assist in maintaining efficient document control systems.
f) Government & External Liaison
  • Act as a liaison with auditors, banks, and government authorities, ensuring all required financial documentation is provided and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist in communication with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
g) Other Ad-Hoc Tasks
  • Provide general support to the Finance Manager and senior management with any other tasks, special projects, or requirements as necessary.
