The role holder is expected to deliver IFRS 9 ECL compliance within Finance by ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of the processes developed for IFRS 9 ECL. The job holder will be required to:

  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy and quality of reporting data and systems
  • Engage with risk colleagues in the review and challenge of impairment related matters
  • Cooperate with various sub-functions within finance to deliver compliant reporting on a timely basis
  • Deliver quality impact assessments as required under the IFRS 9 ECL Implementation Framework
  • Provide complete, accurate and timely information as required by regulators and auditors
  • Simplify and automate IFRS 9 ECL related processes to optimize operational efficiency
  • Investigate IFRS 9 ECL issues, if any, by engaging with relevant departments within the Group (local, regional and global)
Principal Responsibilities:Impact on the BusinessTo continuously facilitate compliant IFRS 9 reporting in a timely manner. This includes:
  • Bridging data gaps between risk and finance
  • Reviewing and challenging impairment results
  • Facilitating reporting consistency between group and local reporting, as well as with MI at entity level
  • Ensuring effective assessment of items identified under the implementation framework
  • Organizing the country impairment forum on a regular basis, including preparation of presentation materials.
Customers / Stakeholders
  • To work closely with Finance teams (Malaysia & Asia Pacific) to provide MY Finance SME support for execution. This role requires SME in subjects such as IFRS9 ECL, Capital & RWA, local regulatory reporting.
  • To support finance teams with complex user queries relating to IFRS 9 ECL and bridging the understanding between risk and finance as required.
Leadership & Teamwork
  • This role will require the jobholder to work with central bank staff, regional finance and/or IT teams, Change delivery and the different Finance functions as well as external to Finance.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk.
  • Ensuring the delivery of documentation and output to a high professional standard.
  • Ensuring suitable control mechanisms are utilised and introduced whenever appropriate into both system and process design.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group\xe2\x80\x99s standards of ethical behaviour.
  • Ensure data quality issues identified during the requirements gathering, analysis and design stages are formally assessed and managed to ensure Finance end state vision and associated benefits are realized.
Requirements
  • Degree in B. University (BA) or (BS)
  • The jobholder must have technical knowledge of finance, preferably a member of a professional accounting body and/ or with an accounting degree with relevant experience in finance related work.
  • Subject matter expertise in financial reporting. Understands and anticipates strategic implications from financial accounting. A high level of professional competence which helps to determine solutions around financial accounting procedures, controls, risk management and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 9 reporting is key. Basel knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organisation. Able to influence without authority.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business.
  • A couple of years work experience in Finance related functions in a FTP site (or an equivalent knowledge of Group GRCA, regulatory & management reporting and FIN controls) is added value
  • Knowledge over FTP and ICE is added value. Knowledge of other Banking and FIN systems such as TREATS, HMI, and GLEAM would be an advantage.
