Role Summary



The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial, commercial and operational cost?control functions of the company, ensuring that the structural steel fabrication business remains financially sound and delivers on commercial targets. This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands?on project cost control, budgeting and team oversight in a fabrication/engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities



Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting for the company, including project-level budgets and company-wide financial targets. Monitor and report on cash flow, profitability, cost of goods sold (COGS), overheads and working capital across both the Singapore and Malaysia operations. Oversee and approve key expenditures, procurement and contract costs, ensuring alignment with budget and ROI thresholds. Manage the direct reports (Operations & QS, Accounts) to ensure coordination between operations, cost control, quantity surveying and accounting functions. Ensure project cost tracking: variations, progress claims, subcontractor claims, supplier cost escalation and cost?to?complete analysis. Review and challenge project cost reports prepared by Ops & QS Manager; ensure accurate final accounts and project close?out. Ensure accounting systems, financial controls, reporting, and statutory requirements (Malaysia & Singapore) are in place and complied with (e.g., GST/SST, corporate tax, FRS/IFRS or Singapore GAAP as applicable). Provide commercial advice to General Manager and senior leadership: risks, opportunities, cost?reduction initiatives, purchasing strategy, currency/steel price exposure. Liaise with auditors, banks and external advisors. Ensure financial statements, cash flow projections and management reports are accurate and timely. Drive continuous improvement in cost control, margin improvement, financial processes and reporting systems in a fabrication/engineering environment (structural steel). Act as business partner to operations, helping to translate financial data into operational decisions and improvements.

Requirements



Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA). Minimum 5?8 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or construction environment (preferably structural steel or metal works) with cost control, project costing and commercial management responsibilities. Strong knowledge of project cost management, quantity surveying basics, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. Accounting knowledge covering corporate, statutory, audit and tax (Malaysia & Singapore context preferred). Excellent leadership skills with ability to manage a multi?discipline team (ops, QS, accounts). Proficient in MS Excel, ERP/financial systems; ability to interpret complex data and present to senior management. Good communication and negotiation skills; commercial mindset; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience dealing with fabrication/steel suppliers, subcontractors, cost escalation and manufacturing cost?control an advantage. High integrity, analytical mindset, proactive and self?motivated.

Preferred



Exposure to structural steel fabrication industry. Knowledge of fabrication costing, bill of materials, labour costing, overhead absorption.
