Job Description




Position General Summary

Rides on fire vehicles to aircraft accidents and structural fires at the airport, utilize fire fighting and rescue facilities/equipment to extinguish related fires and perform rescue work of victims involved in these incidents.

Essential Position Functions

  • Forces entry of aircraft and premises for fire fighting and rescue operations, carries and uses charged lines, fire extinguishers and other fire fighting and rescue equipment in the aircraft and structure for fire extinguishment and rescue;
  • Participates in a continuous training programme by attending lectures, exercises, practice drill sessions and other forms of training to maintain fitness and competence levels required as per AFRS Rating Standard;
  • Participates in aircraft crash practices, building evacuation drills, fire drills, AFRS annual rating and attends training classes in fire fighting, first-aid, and related subjects;
  • Performs special services other than his core function, i.e. wash down of fuel spillage, fire escort, hot works standby and other supplementary duties relevant to the service;
  • Conducts daily maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of fire vehicles and rescue and fire fighting equipment/facilities at the fire station;
  • Conducts daily inspection as per checklist to ensure all facilities/equipment are accounted for;
  • Assists with and conducts fire prevention inspections and tests on fire hydrants, water supplies, fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and other fire fighting systems;
  • Provide coverage in absence of other personnel in order to meet the AFRS minimum manning requirement and be subject to call back in emergency situations during unscheduled work times;

  • To perform strenuous and life-threatening work in a noisy, fiery, smoky, and extremely dangerous environment.

Skills
  • Be physically fit to perform strenuous rescue and fire fighting work;
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the aerodrome topography and floor plan layout of the airport\'s buildings and premises.
Education

External
  • SPM with Bahasa Melayu HONORS with four (4) subjects PASSED including English or
  • For SVM, Bahasa Melayu (1104) was ranked HONORS. Academic CGPA above 2.0
Unique Requirement
  • Possess valid \'E\' driving license (requirement for Fireman G13);
  • Basic fire fighting certificate from MATC, JBPM or other international certificate related to this field.
