Job Description

Purpose of the role:

To lead and carry out preventive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of estate machinery, vehicles, and equipment. The Foreman ensures smooth workshop operations by performing hands-on technical work while supervising a small team of mechanics and helpers.

Duties, Responsibility and Accountability:



Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Servicing:



Perform normal, minor, and major servicing on estate vehicles, tractors, gensets, and agricultural machinery according to schedules. Conduct oil and filter changes, lubrication, inspections, and adjustments. Ensure service checklists are followed and records are properly updated. Detect and troubleshoot potential breakdowns early to minimize downtime.

Machinery Repairs & Overhaul:



Carry out diagnosis and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on estate machinery. Perform engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, hydraulic pump replacements, and other major jobs when required. Supervise and assist mechanics in welding, fabrication, and assembly work. Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and machinery is restored to safe, reliable working condition.

Inventory & Material Usage



Record parts and materials used for each job. Support the Workshop Supervisor in monitoring spare parts and consumable usage. Report shortages of parts, lubricants, or tools to ensure timely procurement.

Record Keeping & Reporting



Complete job cards for each maintenance/repair job, stating work done, parts used, and time taken. Report recurring problems or unusual breakdowns to the Workshop Supervisor. Assist in maintaining accurate service history for all machinery.

Team Supervision & Training



Supervise mechanics, fitters, and helpers during daily maintenance and repair work. Allocate tasks fairly and ensure jobs are completed efficiently. Provide hands-on training to junior mechanics and helpers. Enforce workshop discipline and safety practices.

Education and Experience:



Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Plantation Machinery, or related field. SPM with strong technical background and relevant workshop experience may be considered. At least 3-5 years' hands-on experience in machinery/vehicle maintenance and repair. Prior experience in

oil palm estate, heavy machinery, or automotive workshop

is an advantage.

Skills & Knowledge:



Strong technical skills in servicing, repairs, and overhauls of tractors, vehicles, gensets, and plantation machinery. Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Welding, fabrication, and machining skills are an added advantage. Leadership and supervisory skills for guiding mechanics/helpers. Good record-keeping and reporting ability.

Other Requirement



Willing to work in estate environment

with hands-on approach. Physically fit for workshop and field repair work. Discipline, safety-conscious, and reliable.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
