This is an exciting opportunity for a General Counsel / Head of Legal to lead and manage all legal and compliance matters within the Fintech industry. The role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and the ability to oversee legal operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
Act as a strategic legal partner to senior leadership, offering proactive advice to enable business initiatives while mitigating legal risk.
Define and implement legal frameworks aligned with business objectives and financial regulations, particularly FCA and other relevant regimes.
Build and manage an in-house legal team to support the company's global operations.
Lead legal aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, fundraising, and strategic partnerships.
Oversee international corporate structuring and market entry strategies, balancing local regulatory requirements with group-level standards.
Negotiate and manage a wide range of contracts, including customer, vendor, and technology agreements.
Safeguard intellectual property and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
Provide legal input on product development and innovation to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
Manage legal risks across multiple jurisdictions, including litigation, disputes, and regulatory engagement.
Advise on a broad spectrum of corporate legal matters, including employment, consumer issues, and restructuring.
Market Leader Remote working arrangement
Qualified lawyer in the UK or equivalent common law jurisdiction with 8 to 12 years post-qualification experience.
Expertise in financial services law and banking regulation compliance.
Proven track record in cross-border M&A and complex corporate transactions.
Experienced in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in Fintech and financial services.
Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
Skilled at managing multi-jurisdictional legal and regulatory matters.
High integrity and ethical standards.
Adaptable and effective in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments.
