The company is a listed, Malaysia-headquartered conglomerate with business interests that include real estate, infrastructure and agriculture. The latter comprises a JV formed to build international export growth of its various tropical fruit crops and to complement its strong domestic market position. Presiding over the largest plantation in Malaysia, it is well-poised for future growth into China, Japan and additional new markets. To support its ambitious plans, it now seeks to appoint a suitably-experienced General Manager to steer the strategic direction of its plantations with oversight of all operations including crop selection and Best Practice growth/harvesting to optimise P&L performance.
The Position
Reporting to the Chairman, the General Manager will be responsible for the PnL and have oversight of the entire Cash-Crop Division. This will include the implementation and management of the complete farming process, from planting, growing, and harvesting crops. The General Manager will be responsible for the yearly planting activities, monitoring the growth process, and ensure that farm records are maintained. Naturally there will be a need to manage the farm managers to ensure that the schedules are carried out as planned. The General Manager will need to provide reports and updates to senior management on the progress of the planning, harvesting and sales as well as carry out any ad-hoc duties as and when assignment by the top management.
The Person
Interested candidates will possess a Degree with a minimum of 5 years of working experience in a similar senior role ideally with experience in cash crop fruit/ vegetable farming. Aside from a through appreciation of crop protection, biochemistry, cash- crop farm management, candidate must be aware of the industry trends, technology, and recent developments. To succeed in this role, the General Manager but be driven, energetic and have a passion to grow the business. The role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with frequent travelling to the farms/plantation around Malaysia. In return, the company will offer an attractive package and other benefits.
