Job Description
Operating Packaging Machines
- Operate packing machines and palletizers at maximum efficiency.
- Load and/or unload flatbed trucks, vans, rail cars, trailers and pallets with correct product and quantity according to bill of lading.
- Operate forklift to load products into trucks and boxcars.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment. Resolve routine questions and problems.
- Set-up machine and bagging according to customer specifications and packaging schedule.
- Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of work area and equipment.
- Submit work orders to Maintenance Department using appropriate programs (e.g. Maintracker).
- Accurately complete paperwork and follow sample procedures per Quality System.
- Report immediately any accidents, safety violations, acts of insubordination, thefts, etc. to immediate supervisor.
- May assist in orienting and training new employees under the direct supervision of Senior or Lead Packer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that work areas are kept in clean, safe and orderly condition at all times. Enforce all Company safety regulations.
- Perform work duties in accordance with Omya Quality Systems Manual procedures.
