Shell Malaysia Upstream is a core country for Shell with both conventional and Deepwater assets that generate significant Cash Flow annually for Shell, supporting distributions and new investments in the transformation of Shell\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio into the 2030s.

The Shell Malaysia Upstream portfolio consists of the following:

• Several Operated Gas and Oil Producing fields in the Sarawak Asset that supply gas into the MLNG (Malaysia Liquefied Natural Gas) onshore plant in Bintulu; the Gumusut-Kakap and Malikai deep-water oil fields in the Sabah Asset, and substantial non-Operated portfolio of oil & gas assets in Malaysia.
• We have a significant CAPEX investment in the Growth Portfolio in MLNG (Malaysia Liquefied Natural Gas), Timi, Jerun, Rosmari & Marjoram developments and various exploration opportunities including Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) over the next 5 years.
• The Malaysia Development and Subsurface team consists of Exploration, Development and Subsurface professionals that are focused on the safe execution and operation of our wells and assets, in delivering production gains through prudent Well Reservoir Facilities Management, and in delivering more than 50 new development & exploration wells over the next 5 years to enable future growth and sustain our business into the future.
• Geomechanics discipline is part of the Geomechanics/PPP and Geohazards team under the Development and Subsurface \xe2\x80\x93 Geosolutions team based in Miri, Sarawak.

About The Role

As a Geomechanicist, you will be responsible to:

• Deliver geomechanics-related assessments to support the upstream businesses and opportunities, incl. Decommissioning & Restoration activities and Carbon Capture Storage studies (CCS)
• Provide fracture pressure and wellbore stability predictions and Real-time monitoring to support well delivery
• Scope and deliver, with the Asset Subsurface teams to provide fit-for-purpose Asset Management surveillance plan and provide HSE-critical support to Waterflood activities, Compaction & subsidence monitoring

What We Need from You

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree (BSc) of Science or higher degree in Geomechanics, Engineering or equivalent

To succeed in the role, candidate must have the following skills and personal attributes:

• Accumulated at least 8 years of proven industry experience in application of geomechanics to support well delivery, top seal integrity assessments studies, reservoir management activities including compaction/subsidence modelling and monitoring

• Proficient in the use of borehole stability modelling softwares; Techlog, JewelSuite or equivalent
• Familiarity in the use of commercial 3D modelling Geomechanics tools and fracture modelling softwares; Petrel Visage, Abaqus or equivalent

• Knowledge in Pore pressure prediction/Geohazards or other relevant multidisciplinary skills, with ability to integrate as part of Geomechanics assessments.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to articulate business and technical requirements.
• Passion in sharing knowledge and experiences widely, adopting ideas of others, keeping abreast of new developments, recognizing gaps in technology or workflow, identifying, and implementing new technologies, techniques, and practices.
