Job Description

The GL Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the general ledger for the organization. This role is ideal for professionals with strong accounting expertise in the professional services industry and a keen eye for detail.

• Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts in BlackLine.
• Post journal entries in Oracle with proper documentation and approvals.
• Send daily cash receipt summaries to customers in a timely manner.
• Perform general administrative and month-end closing activities as required.
• Address and resolve queries promptly to ensure timely closure.
• Perform daily control checks and ensure the completeness of urgent requests.
• Accurately record and obtain approvals for journal entries in Oracle.
• Complete daily bank reconciliations, investigating and following up on outstanding items.
• Process receipt applications daily and coordinate with the Accounts Receivable Analyst (North America region - Vancouver and Kuala Lumpur) to resolve discrepancies.
• Provide reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
• Handle ad-hoc requests as assigned.
• Provide accurate and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders regarding accounting practices, transactions, and inquiries to maintain effective relationships.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within financial systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy as the company grows.
• Regularly engage with key customers to understand their requirements and plan work schedules to meet regional needs.
• Maintain strong collaboration with the finance team to ensure transactional accuracy and compliance.

A successful GL Accountant should have:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of general ledger functions and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
• Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements in Malaysia.
