JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying strategic product and/or company acquisition candidates as well as the establishment of creative new research and development ventures and strategic alliances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Retention:
xc2xb7 Recruit interview and Corporate Development staff.
xc2xb7 Coach staff in the interviewing/hiring process.
xc2xb7 Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.
Employee and Team Development:
xc2xb7 Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
xc2xb7 Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
xc2xb7 Coach and mentor staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
xc2xb7 Create and manage succession plans for the Corporate Development function.
Performance Management:
xc2xb7 Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
xc2xb7 Solicit ongoing feedback from peers and team member on team members contribution to the corporate initiatives. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team member based on feedback.
xc2xb7 Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
xc2xb7 Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
xc2xb7 Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
xc2xb7 Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
xc2xb7 Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.
Communication:
xc2xb7 Provide weekly communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
xc2xb7 Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
xc2xb7 Ask questions; encourage input from staff.
xc2xb7 Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.
FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Strategy and Direction:
xc2xb7 Know and understand the corporate strategic directions.
xc2xb7 Define, develop and implement a Corporate Development strategy, which contributes to the corporate strategic directions.
xc2xb7 Develop an understanding of the workcell business strategy as it pertains to Corporate Development.
xc2xb7 Provide regular updates to superiors and team on the execution of the strategy.
Cost Management:
xc2xb7 Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
xc2xb7 Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
xc2xb7 Provide feedback to peers on cost and cost trends.
Forecast Development and Accuracy:
xc2xb7 Prepare timely forecasts for the department.
xc2xb7 Provide expense budgets when required.
xc2xb7 Provide signature authority for expense reports.
xc2xb7 Challenger of business unit submitted economics: Pre-tax margins, RONA and other relevant metrics.
xc2xb7 Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
xc2xb7 Identify and pursue strategic product and/or company acquisition candidates.
xc2xb7 Establish creative new R&D ventures and strategic alliances.
xc2xb7 Contribute significantly to all stages of business development: candidate identification, commercial assessment, business terms development, deal negotiation and implementation.
xc2xb7 Develop and maintain expertise in specific industry sector.
xc2xb7 Develop specific plans for each factory together with BUDs, sales team and operations.
xc2xb7 Develop current and future business expectations and drive within organization.
Corporate Responsibilities:
xc2xb7 Keep corporate management informed of changing market conditions within region.
xc2xb7 Clearly understand all operational elements of Jabils Business.
xc2xb7 Assist with integration of mergers and acquisition activities into mainstream.
xc2xb7 Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
xc2xb7 Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.
xc2xb7 Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
xc2xb7 Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
xc2xb7 May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
xc2xb7 Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
xc2xb7 Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
xc2xb7 Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
xc2xb7 Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabils software packages.
xc2xb7 Ability to tailor advanced quality tools training to all levels of the organization.
xc2xb7 Multilingual a plus.
xc2xb7 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
xc2xb7 Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
xc2xb7 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists.
xc2xb7 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
xc2xb7 Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.
xc2xb7 Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable companys business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.
xc2xb7 Strong financial and analytical ability. Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.
xc2xb7 Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.
xc2xb7 Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
xc2xb7 Strong and convincing communication skills.
xc2xb7 Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
xc2xb7 Bachelor's Degree from four-year University.
xc2xb7 3-5 years Jabil experience required.
xc2xb7 2-3 years business development required.
xc2xb7 Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
