Project and Role Summary: To work as part of a team to set up and manage the Seremban Diabetes (SeDia) Cohort. This SeDia study is a public-private partnership between Ministry of Health Malaysia and International Medical University, IMU. The SeDia cohort will study the determinants of complications in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and examine the roles of genetic, physiological, lifestyle and psycho-social factors in the development of T2DM and its complications. This is a long-term study that involves patients with diabetes and their family members registered with the Diabetes Registry of Klinik Kesihatan Seremban. The main purpose of the study is to identify the risk factors among family members for diabetes as we know diabetes can affect people differently depending on their age, gender, race, lifestyle factors and biological factors, including genetics. Findings from this study will help identify new interventions to prevent diabetes more effectively among Malaysians. The successful candidate will provide assistance and support to the IMU Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI), working closely with investigators on duties that include, but are not limited to, the coordination of sample collection, biospecimens processing, biobanking and study documentation and data management. The candidate will work under the general supervision of the SeDia Project Manager and IMU IRDI Research Laboratory and Support Services Manager with focus on study sample management and maintenance of the SeDia BioBank.
