to lead yard space optimization, project and production planning, and drive operational excellence within a heavy engineering yard. Reporting to the COO, this role is pivotal in ensuring efficient resource utilization, timely project delivery, and continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Space Planning
Develop and implement yard space planning strategies to maximize utilization.
Oversee allocation of yard space for project execution, equipment, materials, and storage.
Coordinate with project teams to ensure efficient space usage and minimize downtime.
Monitor yard capacity and adjust plans to meet changing project requirements.
Project Planning
Lead development of project plans, including timelines, resources, and risk management.
Collaborate with project managers to define scope, deliverables, and objectives.
Maintain project scheduling systems to track progress and implement corrective actions.
Ensure alignment of project plans with client requirements, budgets, and yard capacity.
Production Planning
Oversee production schedules and allocate resources (manpower, equipment, materials).
Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput.
Develop contingency plans for disruptions such as equipment or supply chain issues.
Coordinate with procurement and supply chain for timely material availability.
Operational Excellence
Implement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Analyze KPIs to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
Lead cross-functional teams using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods.
Enforce SOPs to maintain safety, quality, and operational standards.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Act as a liaison between departments to ensure seamless planning integration.
Provide regular progress updates and key metrics to the COO.
Engage with clients and suppliers to align planning with project requirements.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the central planning team.
Build leadership capacity and ensure team effectiveness.
Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Industrial/Operations Management, or equivalent.
Minimum 20 years' experience in planning and operations in heavy engineering, construction, or manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of yard space planning, scheduling, and production planning.
Experience in oil & gas, shipyard, or related marine industry.
Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma or PMP are an advantage.
Proven track record of leading operational excellence initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
