We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our HSBC Amanah team in the role of Head of Commercial Banking (CMB), HSBC Amanah, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Reporting directly to the CEO HSBC Amanah and the Country Head of CMB, the job holder is mainly responsible to lead the HSBC Amanah CMB business in Malaysia and to increase market share, business profitability and achieve thought leadership with key counterparties.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Build the HSBC Amanah CMB franchise value & reputation and manage and develop business, in line with agreed strategic objectives.
  • Achieve key financial and non-financial performance indicators including revenues, profits, Return on Equity, portfolio quality, customer satisfaction, employee productivity and service delivery.
  • Review, design, execute and oversee strategic business initiatives and organisational procedures to drive revenue growth and efficiencies, ensuring a profitable and sustainable business for HSBC Amanah CMB and Commercial Banking (CMB). Within this, formulate and drive business and product strategies to acquire new-to-bank customers, retain existing customers and gain market share, to ensure healthy growth of the customer franchise.
  • Promote and maintain a customer-centric culture that delivers fair outcomes for our customers, ensuring customer needs are well understood and met, complaints are promptly addressed, and expectations exceeded.
  • Protect the reputation and integrity of HSBC by ensuring teams are aware and compliant with laws, regulations and internal policies designed to ensure good conduct outcomes for all our stakeholders.
  • Drive improvements to both customer experience and business efficiency by harnessing technology to (a) facilitate the delivery of new products and services, and (b) streamline, re-engineer and reduce cost to serve of end-to-end processes.
  • Develop and build on relationships with the regulator and foster close partnerships with other third parties. Through strong collaboration at both personal and team level, develop needs based cross-selling of Group capabilities, serve as a strategic partner and collaborate with other HSBC and HSBC Amanah departments such as Wholesale & Retail Banking, Shariah Advisors, Product Teams, Head of Risk to deliver HSBC Amanah & CMB\xe2\x80\x99s objectives, including but not limited to execution of Value Based Intermediation and Project Cocoon related initiatives.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the leadership team to attract, develop and retain talent, provide for succession and deliver business objectives in an environment which is values-led, open, diverse and meritocratic at all levels, built on principles of equal opportunity and a strong \xe2\x80\x98Malaysia core\xe2\x80\x99.
  • Be an effective and proactive risk manager, by promoting a strong risk management culture, maintaining a robust and efficient control environment and managing the range of risks (operating within defined risk appetite) including conduct, credit, operational, financial crime, resilience, security and fraud.
  • Support CEO HSBC Amanah and Country Head of CMB in defining new business and people strategies to shape an engaged culture driven by performance.
  • Assist and communicate with executives and Board in decision-making, program management and initiative implementation. As a member of the senior management team, be an active participant in the business and country executive forums, supporting the CEO HSBC Amanah and Country Head of CMB to discharge their responsibilities and apprising them on all issues relating to HSBC Amanah CMB.

  • Minimum 10 \xe2\x80\x93 15 years of broad-based Corporate banking experience covering relationship management and understanding of products (financing, trade, payments, treasury and event)
  • Bachelors degree in relevant discipline is mandatory and professional or academic qualification in Islamic finance is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of Islamic banking products for Corporate banking and experience in structuring facilities and pricing risk in a competitive environment are highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of industry trends and macro-economic trends, locally and globally
  • Strong track record of success in a leadership role including prior experience leading a high-performing team
  • Highly goal-oriented and possess strong business acumen with excellent interpersonal & communication skills
