This role handles:
1) Relationship Management with all functional areas covering Distribution business.
2) Delivery of the digital insurance products assigned through agile resource management and innovative technology implementation to support Distribution Platform business strategy.
3) Ensure systems stability and smooth IT operations for Distribution Platform applications.
4) Business-Technology alignment looking outside in at solutions to meet current & future business needs.
5) Business Value realization by understanding solutions, challenging and then co-owning all business technology solutions that are delivered.
6) Change Management advocate that drives and enables a culture of innovation to be fostered within your direct team, Transformation and other business partners.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Distribution Platform Delivery
Manage and execute the development, design and implementation of new products and changes to existing information systems and software packages.
Maintain a strong focus on effective delivery with cost efficiency in ensuring that the investment in IT realizes the intended benefits.
Define action plan to support IT strategy through sound planning, established methods and resourcing to deliver projects within agreed timelines.
Manage, enforce and review system change adhered to software development life cycle and software quality management.
Manage and optimize system delivery via proper adoption of Enterprise Architecture.
Implement policies, procedures, standards and best practice to drive center of excellence for digital platform development.
IT Operation Management
Ensure Production support for Distribution Platforms IT applications.
Ensure Infra support for Distribution Platforms IT applications and appliances.
Review of Distribution Platforms systems infra capacity
Manage application availability with timely resolution of issues and problems.
Relationship Management
Point of contact and expertise for Distribution Platforms Enablement to inspire confidence on the ability of IT to deliver solutions.
Business-Technology Alignment
Motivate and inspire the Distribution Platforms Enablement teams in terms of innovation and agility on solutions available to address pain points and business needs.
Bridging the gap in domain understanding between the business and technical team for focused delivery.
Change Management
Driving the culture of innovation and change within your direct team, Transformation and your operational business partners.
Team Management
Promotion of excellence within the Distribution Platforms Enablement team through the attraction, continual development and retention of team members with the knowledge, skills and behaviors to deliver business priorities
Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of accountability and performance in order to ensure delivery of business goals.
Build & maintaining organisational options and succession planning.
Ongoing mentoring for team members.
Ongoing monitoring and management of team morale.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Degree from a recognized University preferably in Business, Insurance Studies, Information Technology, Computer Science, etc
Professional qualification in Life Insurance i.e., Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII), Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII), Life Office Management Association (LOMA), Australian Institute of Insurance (AII), International Claim Association (ICA) or other related to Life Insurance Industry would be an added advantage.
Strong Technical expertise in handling application delivery team and operations management.
A minimum of 15 years working experience in IT with preferable life insurance and / or IT management consultancy.
Proven leadership experience in managing a cross-functional team with demonstrated skills in strategic planning and execution of IT / Transformation projects/initiatives.
Articulate and proficient in written and spoken English.
Understanding of local/regional regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of Life Insurance industry best practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information at different levels and with a team with talents of diverse backgrounds.
Excellent skills in influencing and negotiation to constructively challenge status quo to achieve productive solutions / outcomes.
Excellent critical problem solving, execution, and change management skills.
Excellent level of customer focus with the ability to interpret customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests
