Microsoft\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) Department has an opening for a senior and highly experienced professional to lead its government affairs and policy team in Southeast Asia.

The collective mission of the team is to anticipate and manage policy issues impacting Microsoft\xe2\x80\x99s business across the ASEAN region; to proactively work with Microsoft\xe2\x80\x99s business to create and support market opportunities; and to demonstrate Microsoft\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to being a responsible and engaged organization that contributes to local ecosystems and supports our customers and partners in the market. Central to this role will be the team management and deep partnerships with internal Microsoft teams, including the Global Government Affairs team, the subject matter legal experts as well as regional and Corp based resources.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, develop, and grow a high-performance government affairs and policy team to further Microsoft\xe2\x80\x99s policy, industry, and business goals.

Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Lead, coordinate, and orchestrate the development and execution of a high impact, issue specific legal, regulatory or policy strategy that advances the business interests of Microsoft in the ASEAN region.
  • Strategize and develop effective outreach plan; help oversee related campaigns as required.
  • Respond to regulatory and legislative issues that arise from time to time and to proactively monitor and mitigate risk and crisis issues as they arise.
Advocacy
  • Participates in internal/external events, supports executive engagement and participation in international events.
  • Directs political strategies, provides strategic vision, and develops communication framework and/or messaging in partnership with Communications team for Microsoft by implementing strategies across diverse stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
  • Builds and maintains a strong, ongoing network and coalition with complex governmental and non-governmental stakeholders (e.g., peer and industry organizations, think tanks, academics, businesses, community leaders) to align interests to significantly advance Microsoft\'s objectives in key priority areas.
  • Builds strategic relationships that position Microsoft as a key trusted advisor to targeted political leadership and/or trade/think tank organizations in the region.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to the Public Sector and other key business leads by supporting sales and market opportunities, building Microsoft\'s reputation as a globally trusted provider of technology, and assisting in navigating, minimizing, or removing roadblocks in order to drive business results.
Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field AND 5+ years work experience in Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Public Policy, or Government
  • OR 8+ years work experience in Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Public Policy, or Government.
  • People management experience, with demonstrated ability to build a strong team culture and to coach, develop and performance manage a team.
  • Fluency in English, adept diplomatic skills with demonstrated capability to manage geopolitical challenges and to engage/counsel senior business leadership in the company.
  • Proven experience as an effective external spokesperson. Must be able to proactively advance legal and policy positions through high impact external engagement in small and/or large group settings, including communications with high-level government officials, influencers and the media.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideally 10+ years as a government affairs professional experience with an MNC.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop creative/simplified solutions to complex problems, to build and execute public policy programs that support business growth and policy objectives.
  • Self-directed and ability to work cross-group with a highly matrixed headquarters and regional organization.
  • A strong record of being an effective team player dedicated to collective successes with the ability to promote cooperation and facilitate problem resolution in a timely, creative, and professional manner.
  • Dealing with crisis related short deadlines and working in high pressure situations to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
