ABOUT THE ROLE

The role oversees a team of Editorial Leads, Legal Editors, Legal Analysts, and external vendors responsible for processing and publishing legislative law content available digitally and in print, ensuring the portfolio\xe2\x80\x99s quality, currency, and functionality. This must be done in the context of strict adherence to the publishing schedule and compliance with standards, including editorial benchmarks and quality assurance measures.

To effectively carry out the duties of the role, the Head of Legislation is required to have close interaction with support staff and operations personnel and drive continuous improvement in relation to global processes, internal team processes, and processes that cross over with stakeholders and vendors. The Head of Legislation is responsible for assisting the teams to meet overall portfolio responsibilities and managing external vendors providing editorial processing tasks to ensure business priorities are met.

Additional responsibilities of the role include interaction with licensors as required, dealing with/ briefing vendors, content ownership, accountability and management through tracking and reporting on operational metrics and analytics. The Head of Legislation is required to work closely with the in-market Content Strategy/Commercial teams regarding scheduling and delivery of content and solutions.

The Head of Legislation will become proficient with the various systems and processes relevant to the role and proactively create documentation and share knowledge as necessary to grow the teams\xe2\x80\x99 capabilities. The Head of Legislation will also periodically be called upon to support the adoption and enhancement of editorial systems within Asia and the Pacific as well as collaborating with members of the Global Legislative & Regulatory leadership team and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership of content and titles within the Head of Legislation portfolio;
  • Be responsible for the quality, timeliness of delivery, and responsive to the currency of the content within the portfolio;
  • Ensure adherence to SLA targets for delivery of content, and assist with management of the publishing schedule;
  • Actively support, and sometimes step in as, Product Owner for roll out of enhancements to editorial systems (ECJ, CaaS, etc.) touching team processes or portfolios.
  • Lead teams by promoting common vision, strategy and objectives;
  • Managing a team of staff with diverse skills (XML/HTML coding, Legal editorial, desktop publishing, and other incidental positions) to meet a variety of business goals, aligned with commercial priorities;
  • Delegating and getting things done through others;
  • Coaching and mentoring, knowledge sharing, performance management, career development;
  • Regular monitoring of employee output and capacity, effective guidance in delivery of responsibilities;
  • Actively drive a high performing customer-facing culture;
  • Increase EOS scores.
  • Ensure portfolio meets operational performance metrics;
  • Assist in competitor benchmarking and ensure product performance metrics are market leading;
  • Track and measure variance to publishing schedule;
  • Manage key contractor, vendor and/or supplier relationships to meet processing benchmarks and delivery of content on time, to standard
  • Create new metrics as required to keep publications competitive in the market, identify and improve on key value props and implement new efficiencies
  • Partner with Asia and Pacific Regional Leads on planning and product development
  • Partner with in-market teams on product enrichment, development, scope and customer requirements
  • Support the in-market commercial product owners with content related queries and developments;
  • Assist Customer Operations with customer queries and issues;
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, customers (internal and external) and management to ensure efficient execution of tasks and roadmaps;
  • Participate in Global Legislative projects
  • Develop and improve the performance of the portfolio;
  • Assist with product enhancements and product roadmaps;
  • Identify strategic opportunities and lead product development and UAT for enhancements to content and/or editorial systems
  • Partner with Global Legislative leadership to deliver global harmonized processes and global teams
EXPERIENCE

Education: Specialized/ Technical
  • Tertiary Education Qualification required (Law, Arts/English, Technology);
  • Computer skills in Microsoft 365 Suite, Team Collaboration Tools (MS-Teams, Trello) InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Internet skills;
Experience
  • Prior legal practice experience preferred;
  • Experience in publishing strongly preferred (experience with legal publishing advantageous), with sound working knowledge of publishing workflow from idea conception to delivery to customer (Digital and Print);
  • At least 3+ years of people management;
  • Experience with financial reporting and budget management;
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors
