Head of Technology APAC

This position is for a UK start up company that runs a platform for B2B with embedded financial products. The have launched the product live, and looking into expanding the development team in Malaysia.

Work arrangement: Hybrid

Responsibilities:

• Own and deliver company-wide product or platform goals with multi-year, multi-team effect
• Demonstrate a high level of depth in a particular platform or product category that brings unique business value
• Align technical strategy for several projects in the engineering org to broader initiatives across the Engineering Team
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify major new business opportunities unlocked by technical capabilities
• Join a team working directly with our CTO and founders to build out the company\'s Intelligent Partnership Platform (IPP)
• Design APIs and document everything on Swagger/OpenAPI language.
• Develop and deliver features to meet new requirements and functionalities. We use AWS to host our deployments (EKS, Lambda, APIGateway, RDS)
• Manage MySQL database maintaining a high level of security. (We may be using Redis soon)
• Take responsibility for code across our stack

• Backend is powered using Python, FastAPI, MySQL
• Frontend is built modularly using TypeScript, React, NextJS
• Leading our tech team in Malaysia

• Experience in building and delivering successful web technologies and services. Understand how a service can run at a large scale
• Be able to define medium-to-long term strategy for business-impacting projects
• Autonomously define and deliver technical roadmaps of larger projects, often involving cross-team dependencies.
• Strong knowledge of different programming languages including Typescript, Python and open to learn new things quickly.
• 10+ years of experience in programming within test-driven development and continuous delivery environments
• Help with compliance and best practices: ISO 27001, OWASP, etc.
• Participate in security reviews for current and new functionalities.
• Organise penetration testing and report suggestions and improvements to the right stakeholders.
• Built and deployed cloud-based services across multiple geographies
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems in a digestible way
• Experience and an interest in leading, mentoring and coaching our team of developers in Malaysia
