Job Description

The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources within the Retail industry, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with company goals. This role is ideal for HR professionals who thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
1. HR Strategy & Business Partnering

  • Partner with retail leadership and store managers to understand business needs and provide HR solutions.
  • Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development strategies to support business growth.
2. Talent Acquisition & On-boarding
  • Lead recruitment for retail positions (front-line, store managers, regional roles).
  • Build talent pipelines through job portals, universities, and industry networks.
  • Oversee on-boarding and induction to ensure smooth integration into the company.
3. Performance & Development
  • Implement performance management processes, including goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and appraisals.
  • Identify training needs and collaborate with L&D teams to design retail-focused programs.
  • Support leadership capability building for store managers and supervisors.
4. Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Advise management on employee relations, disciplinary actions, and grievance handling.
  • Foster a positive work environment by implementing employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws and company policies.
5. HR Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee payroll, leave management, and HRIS accuracy.
  • Develop and implement HR policies aligned with corporate standards and retail needs.
  • Monitor HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement) and recommend improvements.

A successful HR Manager should have:
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in HR processes and policies within the Retail industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, well-versed in IR cases.
  • Based at Penang or able to relocate to Penang
  • Excellent communication skills.
