HV/MV Substation Design Manager - Data Centre Projects - Malaysia
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HV/MV Substation Design Manager to join a leading data centre developer and play a key role in delivering the design and construction of large-scale electrical infrastructure across Malaysia.
As an HV/MV Substation Design Manager, you will serve as the client's trusted advisor and representative, coordinating all design and construction-related aspects of high-voltage and medium-voltage substations for major data centre developments.
Key responsibilities for this HV/MV Substation Design Manager role:
Act as the client's agent, consultant, and representative through all phases of substation design and construction
Coordinate and administer the design process on behalf of the client, engaging with stakeholder groups, external design consultants, and contractors
Track and manage design packages and approvals across both domestic and international project bundles
Escalate and resolve design issues in collaboration with the client's project management and legal teams
Support contract drafting and negotiation for substation design, construction administration, and peer review scopes
Develop project design plans including scope, schedules, budgets, risk logs, team rosters, and communication strategies
Oversee progress of design schedules, budgets, and risk registers from concept to IFC
Maintain and update design review checklists, decision logs, comment trackers, and change logs throughout the design lifecycle
Deliver monthly design reports, meeting minutes, constructability reviews, value engineering reports, and CA/SDC status updates
Coordinate as-built and record model updates with third-party contractors during construction
Monitor and ensure design QA/QC processes are implemented effectively
Coordinate cost estimates, value engineering initiatives, and constructability reviews with stakeholders and third-party partners
Oversee invoice processing, change order resolution, and quality issue closure
Provide general programme support, including stakeholder coordination, scheduling, and periodic travel to team meetings
