Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert reource. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation in a problem solving capacity; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Administers distribution processes and services involving import, export, and transportation.
  • Provides services relating to one or more of the following functions: coordination of national/international shipments, regulatory classification and compliance, processing and auditing of freight payments.
  • Expedites, dropships and works with forwarders to process imports/exports.
  • Prepares required documentation.
  • Works with Customs to expedite delayed inbound or outbound shipments. Interacts with government agencies for export licensing and reporting.
  • Monitors distribution processes.
  • Identifies deviations, escalates concerns and proposes enhancements for process steps.
  • Communicates with customers, external agents, forwarders and brokers relating to shipments and license issues.
  • Determines classification of parts imported by Celestica, which affects duties payable and compliance to regulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse, distribution, and inventory control and shipping/receiving practices.
  • Basic knowledge of import / export rules and regulations, compliance and documentation requirements
  • Basic knowledge of transportation industry
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in relevant applications.
  • Basic math, data entry and 10-key skills.
  • Ability to evaluate multiple tasks, non-routine situations and prioritize/organize work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with variety of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Typical Experience
  • Four to Five years experience.
Typical Education
  • Additional Courses after High School , or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
