A career with Kerry offers you an opportunity to shape the future of food while providing you opportunities to explore and grow in a truly global environment.About the roleThe Indirect compliance manager will lead Kerry\'s centralized indirect tax compliance team which is responsible for the indirect tax compliance reporting requirements and associated financial controls for a growing number of countries. Kerry\'s primary ERP system is SAP, with reporting from other systems and government portals. Indirect tax is a transactional tax and in addition to preparing indirect tax returns, we work with other Kerry functions to ensure that the end-to-end business process is compliant and efficient. Key stakeholders for this role are the Tax function, regional Finance directors and local Financial Controllers, especially in relation to tax audits and documentary requirements. However, we also work closely with Supply Chain, Order to Cash, Record to Report, Procure to Pay and other parts of Kerry.The role will also be responsible to lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team within the Indirect tax and Financial services area. The role actively participates as a member of the GBS FS Leadership team, collaborating with leaders to shape and influence the results as one FS team.Key responsibilities

  • Manage the GBS team of VAT analysts in the preparation of the VAT returns, Intra-stats and other reports in compliance to the VAT rules of the countries / ledgers in the region.
  • Ensure indirect tax returns are materially correct and that payments / returns are submitted on time according to the compliance schedule.
  • Ensure VAT reconciliations are prepared monthly and that reconciling differences are addressed.
  • Review monthly VAT debtor report and ensure that VAT debtor is optimized at all times, with regular action taken on ageing debtor and reconciling items.
  • Lead the SOP documentation standardization project for the team.
  • Deal with compliance queries received from the business e.g. Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Country Compliance controllers etc.
  • Deal with escalations from the team in relation to VAT rates/tax data for new vendor / customer set ups.
  • Support the regional tax function as required in relation to ad hoc projects associated with indirect tax e.g. audit preparation.
  • Support / liaise with country controller / indirect tax manager /internal SAP team to ensure that any legislative updates are activated in SAP/process/SOP and that tax coding and similar are as required.
  • Identify action process changes / training initiatives needed in the indirect tax area, including those concerning stakeholders in other function.
  • With the support of the country compliance controllers and the regional indirect tax manager, keeps informed regarding regional indirect tax compliance legislation / practice changes in the countries in scope and ensure that any necessary updates are actioned internally (system / process).
  • Actively seek out and communicates efficiencies in the way of working.
  • Train the indirect tax team leads and analysts. Provide other internal training that may be needed in the area of indirect tax compliance e.g. to Accounts payable team and similar.
  • Work with the business and internal SAP team, co-ordinate the indirect tax compliance aspects relating to any new migrations to SAP.
Qualifications and skills
  • Accounting/Finance degree or equivalent: fully or partly qualified professional accountancy qualifications also relevant.
  • Experience: With at least 3-5 years experience managing a team of Indirect tax analysts in a multinational, shared services environment.
  • This is a tax compliance role rather than a tax consultant / adviser role.
  • Excel to a high standard, including FX functions, Pivots, charts, data analysis and presentation into day to day work.
  • SAP to manage indirect tax reporting with an understanding of relevant financial transactions e.g. purchase orders, sales orders, Customs documents, invoices, financial transactions, tax coding and tax conditions.
  • Efficient use of MS office and other key business tools;
  • PowerPoint for effective presentation of data including graphs and charts.
  • Outlook to apply rules and manage folders, scheduling and diaries, build standardised templates and manage processes.
  • Visio to create and maintain process documentation.
  • Sharepoint to upload shared materials and share and engage with projects and other functions.
  • PowerBI to analyse and report on KPIs and performance.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and agile enough to respond to the needs of the business in a timely manner.
  • Good communication skills, an ability to converse with all levels and nationalities.
  • Good team player and willing learner.
  • Able to travel internationally from time to time.
  • MNC or big four international Indirect Tax compliance experience or equivalent.
  • A self-starter, who is willing to take initiative on new and challenging tasks.
  • Absolute discretion and observance of confidentiality requirements.
  • Must be numerically accurate with a "good eye for detail", thorough, organized and consistent.
This is a hands-on role and we expect our managers to be comfortable with providing the team detailed support on complex tax issues and up to certain extent able to complete returns and reconciliations themselves in order to be able to do a detailed review and promote process simplification and standardization.Beware of scams online or from individuals claiming to represent us.
