Summary of the role
At Smith+Nephew, we operate in a regulated industry. How we manufacture products and components plays a vital role in meeting expectations set by regulatory bodies across the globe. How we do it isn\'t always about finding and driving efficiencies in a process, although, that is important too!
To support our new manufacturing plant, this role will plan and implement the detailed physical manufacturing processes and layout to support the phased approach from validation to manufacture of semi-finished goods to full production.
This part is key! Being able to validate our processes and remediate Design Control activities, means we can remain aligned to all relevant regulatory frameworks allowing new and continued market access for our products.
A strong understanding of operations methodologies and process modification is required to succeed in this position. To achieve all of the above will require levels of testing and verification that will clearly outline and validate our processes, capability and deliver improved efficiencies.

Essential Job Functions
Working with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, HSE, operations) to design manufacturing cells, perform floor marking exercises, build business processes, create material handling solutions, and implement lean tools (notably 5S).
Define the space and layout requirements for all the manufacturing processes, by drawing and designing optimal layout and flow.
Propose material handling solution to support the daily operations, taking into account ergonomic risk assessment.
Develop playbooks for operations to optimize resource utilization and allow for flexibility in day-to-day demand / workforce fluctuations
Analyses and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiency.
Requirements
Degree trained in Manufacturing Management, Industrial Engineering, or engineering technology discipline.
Proven experience in manufacturing management and medical devices is preferred.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD skills required.
Lean manufacturing system knowledge is desired.
