As part of our management team, you will serve as the company's primary legal advisor -- handling complex land, property, and corporate matters, while working closely with senior leadership to support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities1. Legal & Strategic Advisory
Provide timely, practical legal advice on property development, land acquisition, SPAs, tenancy agreements, and construction-related contracts.
Partner with internal departments to ensure legal compliance and smooth project execution.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with key laws and regulations, including the
Sabah Land Ordinance
,
National Land Code
,
Strata Management Act
, and
Housing Development Act
.
Monitor legislative changes and advise management on potential implications to business operations.
3. Contract Management
Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements including SPAs, JVAs, tenancy, consultancy, and construction contracts.
Safeguard the company's legal and commercial interests while maintaining strong professional relationships with partners.
4. Land & Government Liaison
Liaise with land offices and relevant authorities on matters such as land conversion, subdivision, and title registration.
Coordinate with external solicitors on caveats, encumbrances, and related legal processes.
5. Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support
Manage and oversee legal disputes involving land, contracts, or defect liability issues.
Work closely with external counsel in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution proceedings.
6. Corporate Governance
Oversee company secretarial and compliance matters, ensuring timely statutory filings and adherence to governance standards.
Support board and shareholder activities where required.
What We're Looking For
LLB (Bachelor of Laws)
and admission to the
Malaysian Bar
.
3-6 years post-qualification experience
, preferably in property, real estate, or construction law.
Strong working knowledge of
Malaysian land law
and related property legislation.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver results under pressure.
