This includes monitoring and controlling utilities such as wastewater treatment, HVAC, CDA/N2, specialty gases, chemical distribution, and electrical systems through automated control platforms such as PLCs, SCADA, and BMS.
The engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, construction, safety, and vendor teams to maintain high equipment uptime and ensure compliance to industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. Instrumentation & Control System ManagementManage, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation for facility systems (flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, level sensors, analyzers, etc.).
Perform calibration, loop checks, and accuracy verification for critical instruments.
Ensure proper functioning of control systems including PLCs, SCADA, DDC, BMS, and EMS.
2. System Monitoring & TroubleshootingConduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for instrumentation or control-related alarms and failures.
Provide rapid technical support to operations during system interruptions.
Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with process specifications.
3. Project Support & UpgradesSupport facility expansion, tool hook-up, and modification projects involving instrumentation and control.
Review and approve engineering drawings (P&ID, control logic diagram, I/O list, single line diagram).
Coordinate FAT/SAT for instrumentation and control components.
4. Preventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop and optimize PM/CM procedures for instruments and control devices.
Implement predictive maintenance tools--vibration analysis, thermography, sensor diagnostics.
Ensure maintenance documentation and calibration records are up to standard.
5. System Improvement & OptimizationImprove system reliability through instrumentation upgrades, control logic enhancements, and automation improvements.
Reduce utility consumption by optimizing control parameters.
6. Safety, Compliance & DocumentationEnsure instrumentation and control systems comply with semiconductor standards (SEMI), OSHA, local regulatory requirements, and internal EHS policies.
Prepare SOPs, method statements, and instrument calibration reports.
Participate in safety reviews such as HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
