Job Description

This job description involves creating aesthetically pleasing, functional, and safe indoor spaces by collaborating with clients, developing design plans, and overseeing project execution.

Key duties include understanding client needs and budgets, selecting materials and furnishings, creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings, and managing projects from concept to completion by coordinating with contractors and vendors.

Core responsibilities

Client consultation

: Meet with clients to determine their needs, goals, and budget.

Space planning

: Analyze how a space will be used and design layouts for optimal functionality and flow.

Design development

: Create preliminary sketches, mood boards, and detailed 2D/3D plans using design software.

Material selection

: Choose and specify everything from color palettes, lighting, and finishes to furniture and fixtures.

Project management

: Develop timelines and budgets, source materials, place orders, and manage the project through to completion.

Collaboration

: Work with architects, contractors, electricians, and other professionals to ensure the design is executed correctly.

Site supervision

: Oversee the installation and conduct final inspections to ensure client satisfaction.
Requirement:

Creativity and artistic talent

: A strong eye for design, color, and aesthetics.

Technical proficiency

: Experience with design software like AutoCAD or SketchUp is often required.

Communication skills

: Ability to present ideas, communicate with clients, and liaise with contractors.

Project management

: Skill in managing timelines, budgets, and multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of codes and regulations

: Awareness of building codes, inspection regulations, and accessibility standards.

Strong portfolio

: A collection of previous work to showcase skills and experience.
