The IT Assistant is responsible for providing daily technical support to end-users (company staff) and assisting in the maintenance, monitoring, and management of the company's computer systems, networks, and overall IT infrastructure. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and a dedicated focus on user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
A. End-User Support and Helpdesk Operations
Helpdesk Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT inquiries and issues (hardware, software, networking, email).
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose, resolve, and document technical issues raised by users, such as printer problems, network connectivity issues, password resets, and application software failures.
Equipment Provisioning:
Set up, configure, and maintain company laptops, desktops, phones, and other peripheral equipment for new and existing staff.
User Training:
Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on the proper and secure use of IT equipment and software applications.
B. System and Network Maintenance
Asset Management:
Assist in tracking and managing the inventory of IT assets (hardware and software licenses) and ensuring efficient utilization.
Networking:
Assist in monitoring Local Area Network (LAN) and Wi-Fi operations, resolving basic connectivity issues, and configuring network devices.
Backup Systems:
Ensure that daily and weekly data backup procedures are executed correctly and successfully.
Security:
Install anti-virus software and ensure regular Operating System (OS) patching and updates are performed to protect systems from security threats.
Server Support:
Perform basic checks and monitoring of company servers and cloud services.
C. Administration and Documentation
Application Support:
Provide basic technical support for key business application systems (e.g., ERP/HR/CRM systems).
Documentation:
Document technical troubleshooting procedures, system operational guidelines, and user manuals for future reference.
Vendor Liaison:
Assist in coordinating with external IT vendors and suppliers for maintenance services or equipment procurement.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma or Degree or Professional Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Core Technical Skills:
Solid foundational knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN, WiFi).
Experience in PC hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
