The primary responsibility of the IT Technical Support Engineer is to manage first level IT support for users. They work closely with a local reporting manager and IT Technical Support Engineer to understand the operation\xe2\x80\x99s requirements, create plans to meet them and drive the execution of those plans.

Create and execute plans

The IT Technical Support Engineer works closely with country management and the IT Operations and Design Specialists to understand project requirements, create plans to meet them and drive the execution of those plans.

Build and install computers, servers and network equipment

IT Technical Support Engineer assist with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of PCs, notebooks and network equipment within established standards and guidelines. They build computers and install, configure and upgrade servers in line with policy and system requirements.

Provide first level support

IT Technical Support Engineer maintain and troubleshoot PCs, notebooks, IP Telephony systems, video conferencing systems and other network related issues. They investigate first level support calls and identify the root cause of incidents, events and requests. These individuals identify problems and errors prior to or when they occur. He or she will log all such incidents in a timely manner with the required level of detail. They liaise with all stakeholders including vendors, to expedite diagnosis of errors, incidents, events and problems and to identify a resolution.

Manage user permissions and privileges

The IT Technical Support Engineer establishes the needs of users, monitoring user access and security. They control file server permissions and privileges, create and delete accounts and manage group memberships.

Provide back-ups

The IT Technical Support Engineer ensures proper backups and up-to-date patches/anti-virus software for IT servers and PCs. They ensure the back-up of important files to enable system restoration and minimal disruption in the event of a hardware, security or administration failure.

Ensure compliance

The IT Technical Support Engineer enforces and implements IT security policies and procedures related to IT infrastructure and ensures that these policies and procedures are adhered to.

IT Technical Support Engineer have very good problem solving ability and are analytically minded. They demonstrate strong, logical communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. They possess the ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced IT environment. The IT Technical Support Engineer is client and detail oriented and demonstrates a careful and cautious work style.
