Job Description


This independent international school - built on a brand new purpose-built campus housing outstanding facilities - opened in 2017 to provide high quality, international learning opportunities for students in the city of Johor Bahru and wider Johor community. About 75% of pupils are local from local Malaysian families and about 25% are from overseas. Similarly the staff is comprised of both local and international teachers. Staff are enthusiastic and dedicated and students are motivated. The school has a warm, family atmosphere and inclusive environment. In addition to academic opportunities there are also opportunities to participate in Sport, music, drama, arts and other co-curricular activites. Pupils follow the IPC at Primary level whilst secondary students study towards IGCSE and A Level examinations and there are a maximum of 25 students per class.

They are seeking a dynamic leader for their Science department.

Candidates must:
Possess at least a Bachelor\'s Degree, Professional Degree in a science-related field, plus a teaching certificate ie. PGCE.
Good command of spoken and written English.
At least 3 years of teaching experience is essential and preferably experience teaching in an International school.
A working knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE and A level syllabuses in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
At least 3 years of proven experience as a teacher in the UK or international school.
Professional written and spoken English communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team of multinational staff.
Must have efficient organisational and IT skills.
A thorough knowledge of best Learning and Teaching practice is essential.
Have experience leading a team of teachers.

The school is located in a quiet, residential area of Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, which is a suburb in Johor Bahru District, Johor in Southern Malaysia, just across the causeway to Singapore. Ulu Tiram is located approximately 18 km from Johor Bahru to the south and 20 km from Kota Tinggi to the north. The city of Johor Bahru is Malaysia\'s second largest city and a rapidly growing and lively city linked to Singapore by a 1038m long causeway and by many Singapore owned companies within Johor. Outside of work there is plenty to do and see in Johor including several theme parks (Legoland Malaysia is just one example), zoos, museums, galleries, temples and mosques and of course the numerous dining and shopping venues. Served by Senai International airport and also Singapore airport the rest of the world is within easy reach for short weekend or longer holidays.
