Junior Chemist

Role Description

To assist the sales and operations functions by undertaking: technical service; quality assurance assignments; product modification; product engineering; raw material evaluation; local product development.

To support the company\'s product development delivery incorporating IPS and local developments, by working on specific projects either as a team member or for minor projects as the project leader.

• To undertake independent product testing.
• Undertake alternative RM evaluation, reporting the work accordingly.
• To support the QC department as required, normally through undertaking specified QC tests for particular raw materials or Fosroc products.
• To be responsible for all aspects of HSE in the \'cement\' or middle laboratory.
• To support the senior chemist and technical manager in management of the department, meeting objectives in an orderly and safe manner, in accordance with ISO 9001 and HSE.
• To plan, organize, analyze and test all products manufactured in-house and purchased.
• To provide technical support to purchasing, operation and sales in testing and jobsite if required.

• The jobholder must hold a bachelor\'s degree in chemistry or material sciences or a diploma in chemistry or equivalent from an accredited university or polytechnic
• Good communication skills both written and verbal. It is essential to have good command over English language
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic
• Willingness to get hands on. Good practical skills.
• A minimum experience of one year in a chemical industry is required.
• Basic knowledge of handling computer software is required
• It is essential for the jobholder to have a good knowledge of chemistry, analytical skills and material testing
• Able to operate laboratory equipment - e.g. Tensometer and Blaine
• The job required an individual with interest in development works and good interpersonal skills.
