Job Title: Junior Data Engineer

:

Investment Data Management Department (IDMD) Consultant, Data Engineer - Junior.
As part of the overall firm wide IT transformation plan, IDMD, an investment department under Strategy Division, is currently undertaking a few IT-related mini projects such as migrating and testing investment related data for a recently on boarded fund performance and analytics system; developing internal relational database schemas and structure within the department using internal & external data; as well as implementing ETL as part of data integration and other related scope necessary.
To assist with these IT-related projects, IDMD is currently searching for a Data Engineer (Junior) to be housed within the department to continue the development of the established internal database (an extension of the current design and development of targeted reporting tables within internal database) according to Strategic Asset Allocation Department\xe2\x80\x99s (SAAD) needs as our stakeholder. Overall high-level scope covers from development (migration of historical data to automatic updates of incoming data), testing, enhancement, and maintenance of the data within the database to support users retrieve data effectively.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Extend the design and development of the remaining relevant tables within the databases that meet non-functional and functional business requirements of SAAD reporting via Power BI. This includes creation of relational database schemas, the accessibilities as well as data quality improvement plan ensuring database programs meet department and performance requirements.
Extend the implementation of the ETL (extract information from one set of systems and loading it into another) as well as automation of regular/repeated database tasks ensuring automatic updates of incoming data within the internal database.
Extend the assistance to analyse and finalise the user requirements collected by business analyst from relevant stakeholder and identify new features to execute data requests inclusive of extraction, new requirements, dissemination, and disposal of the data within the database.
Solve database usage issues and malfunctions as well as optimise extractions of the database via excel and/or Power BI
Continue the current administrative tasks and operations to ensure smooth running of the project (e.g., preservation of documentations (e.g., BRS, Technical Documentation, SOP, user guide on data extraction, addition, and dissemination of data as well as other relevant documentation if necessary).
Prepare relevant test script, perform testing on UAT and SIT and manage database deployment to production with relevant stakeholders.
Perform database maintenance for both new incoming data and existing data in the production database.
Assist data specialist within the department on data visualization (i.e., dashboard) automation and optimisation roles and responsibilities of #1-#6 completed for all targeted relevant reporting tables within the database.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Hands on experience in developing database using Phyton as well as SQL server and automation of database maintenance using relevant tools (e.g., power automate and windows task scheduler)
Hands on experience in code writing e.g., SQL and programming languages e.g., C, Python, R, or as well as Microsoft Products of Power Automate and Windows Scheduler
Hands on experience of ETL tools to perform data transformation as well as with visualisation tools to develop data visualisation (dashboard). Examples of relevant tools include but not limited to Phyton, R, Power BI)
In-depth understanding of data management (e.g., permissions (access), recovery, security, quality management and monitoring)
Excellent analytical and organization skills
Ability to understand front-end users\xe2\x80\x99 requirements together with good problem-solving attitude
Proficient in verbal and written communication skills
Hands on experience in performing root cause analysis on external and internal processes as well as its data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer queries related to database.
Work with minimum supervision but able to deliver the intended output.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

Bachelor/ master\'s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
A minimum of one-year related experience
Data architecture or engineering certification e.g., CADS/Google relevant certificates, ITIL, TOGAF, IBM Certified Data Engineer is advantageous.
Experience in cloud database solution is an added advantage.
