Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, commercially-minded lawyer to lead our

China Desk

, manage all PRC-related workstreams, and act as the primary relationship manager for our Chinese corporate and HNW clients. The ideal candidate must be able to operate confidently across

Malaysia-China-Hong Kong-Singapore cross-border legal matters

, with strong communication skills in Mandarin and English.

This position reports directly to the Managing Partner and will play a key role in expanding the firm's China Practice.

Key Responsibilities1. China Desk Leadership & Client Management



Lead and develop the firm's

China Desk / PRC Practice Group

. Act as primary point-of-contact for all

PRC clients

, including corporates, investors, HNW individuals, and PRC listed-company groups. Manage client expectations professionally and ensure high service standards. Coordinate cross-border instructions between Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Provide China-market insights and strategic advice to the firm's management.

2. Cross-Border Transaction Work



Handle and supervise legal work involving: China-Malaysia inbound investments Labuan structures (trusts, SPVs, funds, Sukuk) M&A transactions and due diligence Property acquisitions and foreign investment approvals Corporate restructuring and shareholder arrangements Malaysia IPOs involving PRC issuers (Main, ACE, LEAP) Green Sukuk / ESG / carbon credit transactions involving PRC entities Review, draft, and negotiate bilingual English-Chinese agreements.

3. Liaison With PRC Counterparties



Communicate with PRC business owners, legal counsel, regulators, accountants, and banks. Translate, summarise, or provide opinion on PRC documents where required. Ensure smooth onboarding and KYC for PRC clients in compliance with Malaysian and Labuan regulations.

4. Legal Research & Advisory



Research PRC regulatory developments affecting cross-border clients (SAFE, MOF, CAC, tax, ODI rules, VIE, outbound investment restrictions). Provide clear advisory on Malaysian legal requirements to PRC clients (Companies Act, SC guidelines, LCA 1990, FSA 2013, capital markets rules, etc.)

5. Business Development & Marketing



Assist in preparing: bilingual (EN/CN) pitch decks PRC investor presentations seminars and training for Chinese clients articles, newsletters and thought leadership for the China Desk Represent the firm at PRC-related events, exhibitions, and roadshows

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
