A Kitchen Helper is responsible for supporting kitchen operations by assisting in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen functioning.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation Assistance:
Assist in basic food preparation tasks, such as cutting, peeling, and chopping ingredients.
Portion and measure ingredients for use in cooking.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
Follow proper sanitation procedures in line with health and safety standards.
Dishwashing and Maintenance:
Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, either by hand or using dishwashers.
Support maintenance of kitchen equipment by cleaning and organizing as needed.
Inventory and Stock Management:
Assist in the organization and stocking of inventory, including ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Notify supervisors when stock is low to ensure adequate supplies.
Food Service Assistance:
Aid in the plating and serving of prepared meals.
Transfer food to serving dishes, trays, or buffet lines.
Waste Disposal:
Manage waste disposal, ensuring proper segregation and disposal of food and kitchen waste.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of basic food handling and preparation procedures.
Familiarity with maintaining cleanliness and adhering to sanitation standards.
Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from kitchen staff and supervisors.
Willingness to learn and take on various tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
